Optionally choose the Entities from which to generate the DTOs

Mar 19, 2012 at 6:55 PM

Hi,

Is there a way to generate DTO's for a set of Entities rather than the entire entityset?

We have added new set of entities, but do not want to regen for the entire set.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rao

Hello Rao.

That feature is coming in release 3.0.
Please, take a look at this workitem: http://entitiestodtos.codeplex.com/workitem/639

While this is not implemented, I suggest you move the entities that don't need the DTOs into another Model, so you end up with two models, one that you use to generate DTOs for example with Entities "A", "B" and "D" and another model that you don't need DTOs for example with Entities "C" and "E".

Thanks for using EntitiesToDTOs!

Hi,

do you plan a feature to choose what properties goes into a DTO? Because normally you only want to transfer really needed properties through DTO's and not the whole bunch of informations which are propably not needed (because performance and design reasons).

Hello sizilium.

Yes, definitely it will be part of the new features that will come in future releases, not only simple properties but association properties too.

I have just created this discussion to post new ideas for EntitiesToDTOs 4, got more? Hope you do! Hehe

Thanks a lot!
